Paserene proudly presents its first-ever Magnum release, featuring the powerful and timeless Marathon 2021.

This rare 1.5-litre bottling is limited to only 404 individually numbered bottles, making it an exceptional choice for collectors, gifting, special occasions, and long-term cellaring.

Crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot grown in low-yielding Tulbagh vineyards, the Marathon 2021 is a structured and age-worthy wine with depth, polish, and remarkable presence.

Aromatics

Intense cassis, ripe blackberries, dried violets, black pepper, allspice, cedar, and subtle balsamic notes.

The nose is bold and refined, showing layers of dark fruit, spice, floral detail, and elegant oak influence.

Winemaking

The grapes were sourced from low-yielding vineyards in Tulbagh, where decomposed shale soils, a hot dry climate, and cool evenings create wines of concentration, structure, and mineral depth.

The wine was fermented in upright French oak barrels with gentle hand-punching to preserve elegance and texture. It was matured with a focus on purity of fruit, then bottle-aged for six months before release to allow the wine to develop depth, polish, and harmony.

Magnum bottles age more slowly and gracefully due to reduced oxygen exposure, making this release especially suited to cellaring.

Pairings

Pairs beautifully with rich, flavourful dishes such as:

  • Grilled lamb with rosemary and garlic
  • Charred ribeye steak
  • Smoked game
  • Duck breast
  • Aged cheddar
  • Herbed sheep’s milk cheese
  • Roasted nuts with sea salt
  • Slow-cooked beef or venison dishes
